Born in Chicago in 1948 and raised in Las Vegas, Holland developed a profound appreciation for the Mojave Desert, a motif that emerges as a significant and recurring influence in his writing. A graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Master’s in Education, he spent nearly thirty years as a public school teacher, shaping young minds while simultaneously refining his craft as a poet. His previous works include Iridescent Dogs & The Men Who Hunt Them. Inspired by literary greats such as Kenneth Patchen, Edgar Allan Poe, and the Beats, Holland’s work speaks to the timeless questions of love and loss, as well as the complexities of modern life.
